Amy Cline Elected Vice President of Kansas Legal Services Board
Amy Cline has been elected as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Kansas Legal Services. Kansas Legal Services, a statewide non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping low income Kansans meet their basic needs through the provision of essential legal, mediation and employment training services. KLS strives to eliminate the causes of poverty and mitigate its effects by helping individuals achieve and maintain self-sufficiency and family supporting employment. Amy has served on the board of KLS since 2010.
Tyler Heffron Elevated to Member Status
We are pleased to announce that on January 1, 2012, Tyler E. Heffron was elevated to membership status in the firm. Tyler has been a great asset to TWG and its clients for several years. Tyler joined TWG as an associate in 2005, and will continue to focus his practice in the areas of civil and business litigation, including insurance defense, oil and gas litigation and creditors' rights. TWG Attorneys Present Mock Trial
On November 17, 2011, Eric Metz presented a mock trial of a sexual harassment case to the Kansas Chapter of the Young Presidents' Association (YPO) at the Sedgwick County Courthouse. Eric represented the defendant employer in the mock trial, in which TWG attorneys Rachael Pirner served as judge and Tyler Heffron played the role of the president of the employer.
Tyler Heffron Appointed to Wichita State University Presidential Search Committee
On November 16, 2011, Tyler Heffron, who is the current president of the Wichita State University Alumni Association, was appointed by the Kansas Board of Regents to the WSU Presidential Search Committee. The Committee is charged with recruiting candidates to replace Donald Beggs, current WSU President, who will step down on June 30, 2012. The Search Committee consists of 20 persons representing various WSU constituencies.

Appointed to The NCBP Membership Committee
Following her installation as President of the Kansas Bar Association in June of this year, Ms. Pirner was appointed to the Membership Committee of the NCBP. The National Conference of Bar Presidents (NCBP) was founded in 1950 to provide information and training to state and local bar association leaders.
The current organizational members of NCBP include state, local and special focus bars from 53 states and territories and members include current and past bar leaders from these jurisdictions. The Executive Council and committees consist of recent bar presidents who attended NCBP conferences when they were leading their respective bars and who want to share their experiences and perspectives with current bar leaders.

Wichita, KS (October 17, 2011) – Six attorneys from the law firm of Triplett, Woolf & Garretson, LLC, have been recognized by Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers for 2011.
Super Lawyers are nominated by their peers and then chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics magazine, which performs the polling, research and selection process designed to identify only the top five percent of Missouri and Kansas attorneys in more than 70 practice areas. The selection process for Rising Stars is the same as the Super Lawyers selection process except that a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less, and candidates do not go through peer evaluation by practice area. Tad Patton Presents Estate Planning Seminar.
Tad Patton presented an estate planning seminar at Friends University on August 18, 2011. The seminar was sponsored by Friends University and attended by over 50 people. The seminar was available to the public and addressed basic estate planning needs and concerns. Tad spoke spoke about wills, living wills, health care powers of attorney, financial powers of attorney, transfer on death designations, revocable living trusts and the probate process.

Rachael Pirner Is President of the Kansas Bar Association.
(June 13, 2011) Topeka, Kansas – Rachael Pirner became president of the Kansas Bar Association at its Board of Governors' meeting held during the association's annual meeting in Topeka, June 8-11. A KBA member since 1989, Rachael served on the KBA Board of Governors as a District 7 representative from 1998-2004, and served as president-elect last year and vice president the prior year. Founded in 1882, the Kansas Bar Association is a voluntary professional association comprised of more than 7,200 members, including lawyers, judges, law students, and paralegals. The KBA is dedicated to advancing the professionalism of its members, encouraging public understanding of the law, and promoting the effective administration of our system of justice.
Ron Harnden speaker at Wichita Bar Association Real Estate Law Seminar
Ron Harnden was a speaker at a seminar on real estate law presented by the Wichita Bar Association on May 6, 2011. Ron was part of a panel discussion covering "Selected Issues in Commercial Leasing." Ron is a member of TWG and practices extensively in the area of real estate development, representing both commercial and residential developers.
Tom Garretson presents a Securities and Investments seminar for Wichita Bar Association
Tom Garretson presented a seminar entitled: Business Law: "A Legal Look at Securities and Investments" at a May 6, 2011 Wichita Bar Association forum. Tom spoke on the Kansas Uniform Securities Act and was also part of a roundtable discussion dealing with general securities law issues and questions. Tom is a member of TWG and practices in the areas of business and corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions.
Amy Cline Appointed to Electronic Filing Committee
Amy Fellows Cline has been appointed to the Appellate Subcommittee of the Kansas Supreme Court's Electronic Filing Committee. This Committee was formed to study and plan for implementation of electronic filing of court cases and documents in Kansas. The Committee is led by two justices from the Kansas Supreme Court and its members include district court and appellate judges, court administrators and clerks, attorneys, and the chairs of both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees of the Kansas Legislature. The Appellate Subcommittee will focus on planning and implementation of electronic filing in the Kansas Appellate Courts.
